Q3 is a new secondary school for 1000 students and 250 sixth formers occupying a sloping site alongside the M6 motorway in Sandwell.
The sponsor's vision was that the building should be designed from the 'inside out' to create spaces that are meaningful whilst enhancing its external greenbelt location.
At the heart of the building sits the Design Centre, a triple height space with exposed triangulated timber structure and full height glazing opening onto the landscaped grounds.
This space is for display and making, a marketplace for commerce, a place to reflect, and an informal lecture and gathering space for all aspects of the Business and Enterprise, Design and Technology specialism.
|Facilities include lecture theatres, open resource spaces, ICT areas, hair and beauty and a flagship Design Centre that enable pupils to focus on the development of their entrepreneurial skills.|
